Something is lacking.

I believe the brightness comes from when Page was with Jeff Beck in the Yardbirds. There are sessions prior to Yardbirds where Jimmy sounds more contemporaneous of that time in the UK. Jeff Beck didn't use a pick and sounded a lot less brighter than other guys at that time. Page is about texture and he always understood the frequencies like where the bass occupied because Jimmy played bass. He knew where the vocals should be and with his Tele, I think he chose a brighter tone than Beck in order to have that contrast. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Ugh. What a disappointment. Marshall just can't do anything affordable, new, or even wanted anymore. Their competition is eating them alive because of this kind of dumb shit. Sounds nice, but not nice enough.

Got my first Gretsch last Christmas, got my second Gretsch a month ago. Chased PRSs and Gibsons for years not finding they lived up to their reputation with me. But my Gretsch guitars have become favourites in no time.

Don't understand why this is more expensive than a Gibson SG? It has simpler construction, less pickups and electronics..

As great as this guitar is, a LS16 (or similar) is a way better deal. Hard to justify almost 3x price difference. Just my opinion.

The 2 problems With the Clapton Stratocasters if you like normal stratocasters are 1. Because of the stacked Humbuckers ( Fender vintage noice less ) it can never sound like a normal Stratocaster. Physics does not allow it. The Clapton Stratocaster has always 12 DB mid boost even without the boost button. So it Will always be a lot more powerful than a Stratocaster. Its weakest position 12 DB mid boost is a lot more powerful than a Gibson Les Paul Humbucker wise. 2. At 25 DB boost its Way too hot. As Humbucker power doubles with every 3 DB mid boost its between 25 to 30 times more powerful than a Gibson Les Paul Humbucker wise. The Clapton Stratocaster is the absolute most powerful Humbucker Guitar in the world. This is as far away from a Stratocaster as you possibly can come. I dont understand why Fender calls it a Stratocaster because it Will fool a lot of customers wanting a real Stratocaster. Clapton according to his auto biography only used a real Stratocaster for 8 to 11 years. He started recording With a Stratocaster in 1974. The earlier solo records and Derek and the Dominos were recorded with a Gibson Les Paul by Clapton ( see page 179 in his auto biography. ), by 1982 he was fed up With the Stratocaster and Signed with a company called Strings and Things. They made excellent Humbucker guitars and even made the first Signature Clapton guitar. A year or 2 later Fender offers Clapton the biggest offer ever to sign With Fender. Clapton answers ” If you can make me the absolute most powerful Humbucker guitar in the world I sign With Fender ”. Fender succeds in building the absolute most powerful Humbucker guitar the world has ever seen. Nothing even gets close even today. Clapton then signs With Fender. Thats the guitar Clapton has used since early 1986 and became the Clapton Signature Stratocaster in 1988. Clapton only used a real Stratocaster from 1974 to December 1985. But deducted With the time he was under contract with Strings and Things and played their guitars he states in his auto biography he only used a Stratocaster for 8 to 11 years. In the eightiees he used the Fender Elite s lot when playing Stratocasters. The Elite has a mid boost from 0 to 12 DB boost. Clapton only used it on its maximum 12 DB mid boost.

Americans are polarized about EVERYTHING. As far as the headstock goes, the open book SHOULD be on every Epi from now on. They are chinese built to US standards _replicas_ of Gibson made in the USA instruments. They appear identical in every way, so why not include the headstock as well?. Frankly, the altered headstock on Epi’s never looked good. The ‘cut corners’ one symbolized exactly that, and the latest one looks like a regular Gibson open book that’s ‘sagginig’. *I wish they would lose the scarf joints. They don’t need to save material **_that_** badly…*

Gotoh makes better tuning machines than Grover and Kluson, however Schaller makes great tuners, but nothing I like. I’m a giant fan of Gotoh quality wise, the best around. They should reissue a correct version of the Grover Imperial, since Grover refuses to make it correctly. Gotoh Imperial perfect for a country that’s actually had an imperial leader lol..

1990’s Fender Japan made better Strats,Tele’s, Mustangs and Jazzmasters than USA Fender. No reason they can’t make better guitars for Gretsch than USA overpriced poor quality control guitars. Gibson USA is getting killed recently for selling high priced junk. I just favor what Japan is tasked to make quality wise. They take more pride in their jobs than we do here.

Interesting discussion, I was born in 1947, a teen in 1960. Perhaps it is off subject idk, but the most memorable note sequence in my life is the three notes/chords of Louie, Louie! Very easy to play on guitar, bass or keyboard.

Cort grand regal( GA5F BW )natural satin is the best sound between other guitar.. his sound is compact and sounds great.. i do have one of this guitar 3 years before.. but already sell to my friend cause he have one band group for busking in street...in memory

I very much want a squier starcaster but I'm personally not a fan of the fenders finish options and I could personally find or build something more suitable to me needs for significantly less money

I’ve never tried a vintage select Gretsch, but I’d like to. I have 2 players edition jets. A G6128T and a G6228BT that I bought from Peach Guitars recently. They are incredible to play. So I imagine the vintage selection are also incredible. That white Penguin was awesome also.
